Our family took a roundtrip Alaskan cruise aboard Holland America's Eurodam.

The 7-Day Alaskan Explorer itinerary included three ports of call in Alaska, a guided tour of Glacier Bay National Park and a brief stop in Victoria, British Columbia.

Here is a summary of our Aug. 3rd-10th itinerary and a schedule of noteworthy events:

Eurodam 7-Day Alaskan Explorer Cruise

Day 1 - Seattle, Washington

  • 11:30 a.m. - Boarding begins

  • 12:00 p.m. - Club HAL open house and registration

  • 2:00 p.m. - Introduction to the Eurodam

  • 3:00 p.m. - ALL ABOARD

  • 3:15 p.m. - Mandatory emergency muster drill

  • 4:00 p.m. - Bon voyage sailaway (actual departure was closer to 4:45 p.m.)

Day 2 - At Sea

  • 7:15 p.m. - Captain's Welcome Toast

Evening Dress Code: Gala Attire

Day 3 - Juneau, Alaska

  • 2:00 a.m. - Ships clocks are set 1 hour back

  • 1:00 p.m. - Arrive in port

  • 10:30 p.m. - ALL ABOARD

Day 4 - Glacier Bay National Park

  • 7:00 a.m. - Glacier Bay park rangers board the Eurodam

  • 7:30 a.m. - Meet the park rangers in the Crow's Nest

  • 8:00 a.m. - Bow opens

  • 9:00 a.m. - Eurodam passes Gloomy Knob (right side of ship)

  • 10:00 a.m. - Dutch pea soup served on deck

  • 11.15 a.m. - Eurodam arrives at Margerie Glacier and Grand Pacific Glacier

  • 1:15 p.m. - Eurodam passes Jaw Point: Johns Hopkins Glacier and Lamplugh Glacier

  • 4:00 p.m. - Eurodam passes South Marble Island (left side of ship)

  • 5:00 p.m. - Rangers disembark Eurodam (left side of ship) in Bartlett Cove

Day 5 - Sitka, Alaska

  • 2:00 p.m. - Question and answer session with the captain

  • 6:00 p.m. - Arrive in port (actual arrival was 6:45 p.m.)

  • 11:00 p.m. - ALL ABOARD (delayed all-aboard was 11:30 p.m.)

  • 12:00 a.m. - End of baggage drop

Disembark - Seattle, Washington

  • 6:00 a.m. - Breakfast begins

  • 7:00 a.m. - Final onboard statement arrives

  • 8:00 a.m. - Disembarkation begins

  • 9:00 a.m. - Breakfast ends

  • 9:30 a.m. - Disembarkation ends
